Concept note
The research project “Fields of Algerian Literature 2010/2020: Actors, Institutions, and Training,” launched in June 2019 in French and in January 2020 in Arabic and Tamazight, conducted fieldwork on the Algerian literary field, structured around two main axes and employing various approaches and methodologies. The first axis focused on creative actors through the organization of writing and publishing workshops in Algeria. Questionnaires were distributed to writers and publishers, and regular meetings were held to gather their perspectives on the Algerian creative sector. The second axis examined critical practices in literature, as represented by blogs, literary groups, and the literary press. This work employed a variety of methodological tools, ranging from research and fieldwork to workshops and roundtables, as well as the distribution of questionnaires and the recording of podcast interviews with novelists. This has allowed us to compile a rich corpus of field data on literature and criticism in Algeria, as well as on the actors involved, in the three languages studied.
In this context, this study day aims to further discuss the results with key figures and specialists in the Algerian literary field, both creative and critical. We also intend to cross-reference the data along two axes: the vertical axis, represented by the linguistic dimension (Arabic, Tamazight, French), and the horizontal axis, represented by the distribution of genres (novel, short story, poetry) and the actors involved (children's literature, feminist fiction, critical discourse).
Consequently, we decided to organize the day's discussions around two main themes:

Theme 1: The Current State of Literary Creativity in Algeria
• The novel, the feminist novel, young adult novels
• Amazigh literature
• Poetry
• Publishing and publishing houses
• Literary translation and multilingualism
Theme 2: Criticism in Algeria: Actors and Platforms
• Literary blogs
• Literary journalism
• Literary criticism and the media
