Abstract
During a raid, the police arrest Kylian and make the unexpected discovery of an arsenal and a chilling plot: an attack on French territory targeting dozens of mosques, restaurants, and politicians. This terrorist project hollowly reveals the journey of an isolated young man, sucked into the most radical spheres of the far-right.
As a sociologist and specialist in radicalization processes, Elyamine Settoul decides to investigate and meets Kylian in prison.
From their exchanges comes an unprecedented, rigorous, and intimate narrative that retraces the journey of an individual, and with him a group, toward violence. The author uncovers the personal, family, and social drivers of this downward spiral. The ideologies, networks, and identity-driven discourses that fuel this hatred draw notably from an unhealed colonial memory, reviving past fractures to justify present-day violence.
A striking dual plunge into the tensions of French society and into the twists and turns of a far-right galaxy that remains far too misunderstood.
