In 1997, the Centre for Research in Social and Cultural Anthropology (CRASC) decided to launch the journal Insaniyat, which reached its 100th issue in 2023. Throughout this journey, major milestones were achieved with great enthusiasm, determination, and resolve, despite various obstacles and challenges. It is worth recalling that during this period, the nation, along with Insaniyat, was facing a major political and security crisis. From the very beginning, Insaniyat was part of a vision where scientific production and quality were seen as a commitment and a struggle for the continuity of the state and academic research.

Our objective today, through evaluating and positioning Insaniyat, is to address the core questions regarding its past and present, while focusing heavily on its future. It should be noted that the idea for this workshop emerged from the requirements of the qualitative shift regarding the unified standards set by the Research Center on Scientific and Technical Information (CERIST) for managing and tracking journals (article submission, publication processes, valorization, and classifying the journal under category "A", etc.).

Consequently, we deemed it essential, first and foremost, to return to the genesis of the journal, with a greater focus on future measures to enhance its acquired visibility and strengthen its international dimension. This workshop will be organized in two phases: the first phase will be limited to the participation of Insaniyat journal members (the reading committee and the scientific advisory board), held in a hybrid format (in-person and remotely) to bring together approximately fifty participants. The outcomes of this workshop will be published as articles within the journal, potentially in a thematic issue. The second phase will address expanding the reflection on the conditions of scientific production, its realization, and its dissemination by exploring diverse experiences of international journals. This will be conducted through open discussions with editors-in-chief and representatives from various scientific journals published across different regions of the world.

The axes proposed in this workshop aim to highlight the major milestones achieved by the journal since its inception. Discussions will be structured as workshops, where contributions will focus on examining the future of the journal over the next ten years, as well as the prospects for coordination, organization, and increasing the visibility of research output in the field of social and cultural anthropology. This workshop is scheduled for the first semester of 2023 (May 13), aiming to enrich brief interventions regarding all points previously outlined in the preparatory discussion report. The workshop will conclude with official recommendations submitted to the directorate of the Centre for Research in Social and Cultural Anthropology.
Axis 1: The Birth of the Journal

This axis recalls the circumstances surrounding the founding of Insaniyat, the selection process for topics, the scientific criteria for evaluation, and the experience of the journal's early issues.
Axis 2: Sections and Rubrics

This axis covers the permanent sections resulting from ongoing discussions, focusing on the themes raised, research positions, and tributes (commemorations).
Axis 3: Journal Indexing and Citation

This axis aims to evaluate the work accomplished regarding the journal's visibility, the challenge of its classification among peer journals, and the citation metrics required to gain academic recognition, while addressing its sustainability, continuity, and editorial updates.
Axis 4: Insaniyat in Everyday Operations

This axis contributes to evaluating the availability of human resources for peer-reviewing articles, the internal administrative organization of the journal, the role and workflow of the editorial board (rotations and changes), as well as coordination with the printing press.
