Concept note
The research project “Fields of Algerian Literature 2010/2020: Actors, Institutions and Formations,” since its launch in June 2019 in its French version, and January 2020 in its Arabic and Amazigh versions, has been conducting a field survey of the literary field in Algeria through different approaches and working methods, and within two main axes. The first axis focused on the actors in the field of creativity, so workshops were organized on writing and publishing in Algeria, during which questionnaires were distributed to writers and publishers, and then periodic meetings were held to present their visions on the creative industry in Algeria. As for the second axis, it focused on critical practice in the field of literature, represented by: blogs and literary groups, and literary journalism. This work employed several methodological tools, ranging from field research and investigations to organizing workshops and discussion panels, distributing questionnaires, and recording interviews in podcast format. This allowed for the accumulation of a wealth of in-depth field data on literature and criticism in Algeria and its practitioners, across the three languages. In this context, the aim of this discussion panel is to deepen the debate surrounding the initial findings and observations. We seek to cross-reference the various data points along two axes: the vertical axis, represented by the linguistic dimension (Arabic, Amazigh, French), and the horizontal axis, represented by the generic distribution (novel, short story, poetry) and the actors (young adult literature, feminist fiction, critical discourse). Based on the foregoing, we have decided that the panel discussions will be organized according to the following themes: • Methodological and theoretical introductions to the field of literature • Algerian literature and its translation • Feminist fiction • Young adult literature • Intersections of creativity in the three languages • Blogs and literary journalism
