Biography
He is a retired Professor of Higher Education and an Associate Research Director at CRASC (Oran). He has authored and coordinated numerous publications and notably served as the French Editor of the Africa Review of Books and as a member of the Executive Committee of CODESRIA (Dakar). He is currently dedicated to directing the development of a second edition of the 'Dictionary of Algeria's Past, from Origins to 1962'. In 2023, he was awarded the Ibn Khaldun Prize for the Mediterranean.

Biography
Research Director specializing in Political Philosophy and the Social Sciences at CRASC. He has led several major socio-historical research projects, notably serving as the Principal Investigator for studies on local business elites and their relationship with power, women's political representation in Algeria, and a project (2023–2026) focusing on charities and social work in colonial Oran (1900–1950). His work also includes collaborative research on university systems, social change, and the critical mapping of Algerian history and memory.

Biography
Following a career marked by the exercise of high judicial functions and major responsibilities within the Algerian government during the decade of crises from 1990 to 2000, of which he was a direct witness, he now works as an academic researcher.
