The current editorial board of Insaniyat should be commended for the commendable and generous idea of gathering into a single volume the ten articles published by Abed Bendjelid in the journal between 1997 and 2006, followed by his final piece in issue No. 51-52 (2011), dedicated to a theme particularly close to his heart: The Sahara. AS a member of the Editorial Board since the very beginning of the Insaniyat adventure, he was an untiring moderator of the sections that define and sustain an academic journal. Through his hundreds of book reviews, reports on academic research, and presentations of journals—particularly those specializing in geography and regional planning—he exercised his critical spirit toward both authors and institutions alike. Indeed, he is undoubtedly the scholar who has provided the greatest number of contributions to Insaniyat."
