abstract

Published in 2006 by the Center for Research in Social and Cultural Anthropology (CRASC) and compiled from the proceedings of an international symposium, the volume Rachid Boudjedra and Textual Productivity offers a critical reading of Algerian author Rachid Boudjedra's oeuvre through the lens of 'textual productivity.' The gathered essays examine Boudjedra’s literary techniques, which are defined by narrative deconstruction, intertextuality, and rewriting—mechanisms that drive a continuous and evolving generation of meaning. This body of research underscores the experimental nature of Boudjedra's novelistic writing, challenging traditional literary conventions through his unique creative practice. Furthermore, these studies help ground a modernist aesthetics centered on rebellion and deconstruction, while simultaneously engaging with the linguistic, ideological, and historical memory dimensions that tie his work to questions of identity and history in the Algerian and broader Maghrebi context.
