abstract

The publication of this field study comes within a specific Algerian context, where young people assert their distinctive presence, not only through their demographic weight but also through their participation, in their own way, in major national events. Through the media of their time, young people express their demand for recognition and their hopes for a different life. Conversely, a sense of marginalization accumulates within them, clearly manifested in the public sphere through the slogans, songs, drawings, and various forms of expression that emerged during the Hirak movement of February 22, 2019. This study resumes this discussion by examining the issue of "social integration" of young people through an analysis of their attitudes towards public policies related to employment, training, and leisure. The research sample included 5,077 young men and women aged between 16 and 35 years in the provinces of Oran and Ghardaia, two regions that differ in geographical location, local history, socio-anthropological characteristics, and the central stakes of development policies. Evaluating public policies aimed at youth at the local level, through the lens of the youth themselves, presents us with various challenges in understanding their demands. This necessitates listening to the new generations and formulating these policies according to their evolving aspirations.
