Saharan Crossroads

The topics covered in this volume are from the proceedings of the international symposium titled ‘Saharan Crossroads: views from the shores of the Sahara’, held at the CRASC in Oran from 31 May to 2 June 2014. Dedicated to the Saharan region, the book brings together papers that address the issue of exchange flows and their impacts in the countries bordering the Sahara. Its main objective is to bring together and compare research on the theme of information exchange (mobility, flows, etc.) across and within the Sahara. This is aimed at strengthening the socio-cultural, artistic and historical ties between its peoples and fostering a movement of scientific and cultural cooperation among the African countries of the Sahara's shores.
